Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB) along with program partners are hosting a Graduation Ceremony on Monday, November 27 at 5:30 pm at El Parque Restaurant (1319 George Dieter – in Las Palmas Marketplace) for veterans who completed their CompTIA Certifications. The graduates will be able to utilize their internationally recognized credentials to compete for high-demand jobs in the cybersecurity field. El Paso Mayor Margo will be speaking at the graduation. The media is invited to cover the event.
“This program is remarkable because it not only helps the lives of our veteran servicemen and women with good paying jobs but it also supplies employers with skilled workers in the critical area of technology,” said Leila Melendez, COO for Workforce Solutions Borderplex.
The CompTIA program is funded through a grant from Wells Fargo – Neighborhood Lift Program. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) matched the grant with an additional $60,000 to increase the number of students exclusive for veterans, transitioning soldiers, military spouses. CompTIA customized their training to include five in-demand IT certifications (IT fundamentals, A+,CSA+, Network+, Security+).

About Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT Grant
Workforce Solutions Borderplex, Inc. was awarded a $125,000 grant to partially fund a year-long initiative to train and place veterans into in-demand occupations in El Paso. The long-term goal is to build a pathway for economic prosperity that will lead to homeownership and other financially sustaining outcomes for participants. Approximately 60 veteran program participants are expected to achieve certification training in information technology and construction. Support services will be provided to prep participants in financial literacy, credit repair and loan application activities as they complete training.
