Workforce Solutions Borderplex Integrating Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) 

(El Paso, TX) September 7, 2017 – Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB) is expanding services to offer a full range of Vocational Rehabilitative Services (VRS) at the Alpine office located at Ward Center Plaza, 710 E. Holland, Ste. 2, Alpine, TX 79830. Office hours will remain the same, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

There will be two additional full-time staff members ready to assist youth and adults with disabilities prepare for, obtain, retain or advance employment opportunities. The Alpine center will also expand an additional 830 square feet and be equipped with a redesigned resource area to better serve customers with easier access to computers, printers, phones and fax machines. 

The full integration of VRS at the Alpine Career Center is scheduled to be completed and operational beginning October 2, 2017. An Open House is also being planned tentatively for Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Further information regarding the Open House will be sent out as the date nears.

About VRS Integration

On June 19, 2015, Governor Abbott signed into law Senate Bill (SB) 208 directing the transfer of several programs from the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The changes prescribed by SB 208 have a significant impact on the size and scope of both DARS and TWC. The transfer of the programs involves 1,860.9 full-time equivalent employees; a budget of $309,078,198, including state and federal funds; and more than 96,000 consumers.
