(El Paso, TX) September 11, 2017 – Workforce Solutions Borderplex, Vocational Rehabilitative Services and Volar Center for Independent Living will host a ceremony to recognize the 77 youth with disabilities and 22 employers who participated in the 2017 Summer Earn and Learn Work Program. The ceremony includes a keynote address by Cassandra Brown, El Paso District 3 City Representative, followed by testimonials, a presentation of certificates, and dinner.
Workforce Solutions Borderplex will also present the Employer Advocacy Recognition Award to Steinmart for their prominent leadership in the initiative through their ongoing commitment to hire individuals with disabilities. The media is invited to cover this event.
About Workforce Solutions Borderplex Summer Earn and Lean Work Program
Summer Earn and Learn Work Program, formerly known as “Breaking Barriers”, is a groundbreaking program that focuses organizational resources on empowering youth with disabilities through transition planning that is individualized, person-driven and culturally/linguistically appropriate, beginning with summer employment. During its nine-year lifetime, the summer work experience model has served more than 447 youth and 195 employers.
