El Paso, Texas (June 25, 2019) – Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB) will be co-locating space with Texas Workforce Solutions - Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VR) effective Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

A team of VR Services staff will be transferring from its downtown location (401 E. Franklin, El Paso, TX 79901) to the Workforce Solutions - Northeast Center (8941 Dyer St., Suite I, El Paso, TX 79904) as part of the transition of services from the former Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). This move marks the third co-location that will unify staff at both organizations. Previous co-location efforts included the WSB’s Alpine (Ward Center Plaza 710 E. Holland, Ste. 2 Alpine, TX 79830) and North Loop (8825 N. Loop, Ste. 122 El Paso, TX 79907) centers. There will be no disruption of services during the staff relocations.

Co-location of the two organizations will allow for shared resources, enabling Vocational Rehabilitation customers to benefit from WSB’s broad array of employment services and connections, while Workforce Solutions’ VR staff will now have the on-site expertise from Vocational Rehabilitation on how to best assist job seekers with disabilities.

The co-location between both offices follows Texas SB 208, which was passed in 2015 and requires the transfer of several former DARS programs to the Texas Workforce Commission effective September 1, 2016. The legislation mandated that Vocational Rehabilitation staff be co-located with staff from Workforce Solutions who provide workforce services.
