The workshop will feature Eli Velasquez, Director of Venture Development with Texas Tech University, who will teach teens how to start up their own businesses, including concepts and an introduction to the key principles from the revolutionary lean startup model.
“The Lean Startup Workshop will build on the learnings of customer discovery. It will teach teams how to interview customers and garner actual marketplace feedback. Teams will be expected to get out into the community and conduct at least 25 customer interviews over a four-week period,” said Eli Velasquez, Director of Venture Development for Texas Tech.
The free workshop is targeted for high school students who want to compete in the upcoming state recognized, 7th Annual STEM Challenge Business Competition sponsored by the Hospitals of Providence.
“The STEM Challenge is the perfect program to reinforce this workshop, as high school students can be taught early on how to avoid the pitfalls of starting a new business using the Lean Startup principles,” added Velasquez.
